Film career:-Mahesh started out his career in Telugu Cinema with Rajakumarudu in as a hero.The movie co-starred Preity Zinta who played the hero's romantic interest. The movie received good response at the box office.
His second movie was Yuvaraju. Sakshi Sivanand and Simran were cast opposite Mahesh. Mahesh played the role of a father having a 7 year son and surprised all. Although the movie ran for hundred days,it is rated as an average movie.
His third movie was Vamsi co-starring Namrata Shirodkar. The movie also featured his father Krishna in a pivotal role. The movie didn't do well at box office and was declared a flop.
His fourth movie Murari directed by Krishna Vamsi and co-starring Sonali Bendre provided him the much needed breakthrough. The movie was declared as hit and the music was an instant hit and it proved Mahesh's ability as an actor
